Exciting VR projects despite Corona
As part of our course "Virtual Reality", numerous interesting projects were carried out again this semester. Despite difficult conditions caused by Corona, a foot controller for VR applications and a camera-based mobile phone Theremin were developed. Topics such as audio playback using wave field synthesis, digital musical instruments or AR technologies for deaf people were examined. As an example, we would like to link a presentation dealing with the comparison of binaural audio spatializers for spatial audio reproduction in VR applications. First, the three SDKs Steam Audio, Oculus Spatializer (Facebook) and Resonance Audio (Google) are compared. Then various functionalities such as sound absorption, acoustic occlusion and transmission are demonstrated using a Unity application and Steam Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTZmrSDjhKY.
