E1: Market-model-based energy-economic analysis of H2 import demand and import potential of synthetic gases from MENA countries
The project aims to analyze the supply side of hydrogen with the help of cost potential
curves. Hydrogen import potential will be determined for the European energy system by developing cost-potential curves focusing on the MENA countries (Middle East and North Africa). With a systematic data- and model-based approach, promising countries of origin for meeting the demand for hydrogen will be identified. Furthermore, a European hydrogen market model will be developed, which considers production and trade volumes in relevant countries. The model-based analysis shall support the development of strategic perspectives and political recommendations for action.
