Who we are
The Chair of Building Energy Systems and Heat Supply is committed to current research questions of energy and heat supply for buildings, districts and municipalities, and represents these specialist contents in teaching and student training. Many questions are investigated using numerical methods. We also use a wide variety of laboratory and experimental facilities.
Our main priorities are
The energy and heat supply of buildings, districts and municipalities covers the entire balancing area from the primary energy carrier to the use of thermal energy for room heating and cooling, drinking water heating and process heat supply. This is why we are dealing both with heat production from fossil and regenerative energy sources, heat distribution via local and district heating systems as well as heating and air-conditioning technology in the buildings. The rational energy conversion as well as the integration of regenerative energy sources into existing energy systems are our important areas of work. These include building automation, forward-looking energy and load management, including optimisation of energy supply systems, building and plant simulation, thermal comfort and drinking water hygiene.
