Course content |
In the frame of these lectures the students will become familiar with the usual deposition methods used for the production of thin films. They receive an insight in to the most important process parameters of various production methods and learn about the most significant impact factors for a technologically and economically effective deposition. On the basis of a simple structure-zone-model the students develop a deeper understanding about the growth of thin films on material surfaces and comprehend the influence of process parameters on the film properties. With the help of practical examples a discussion will be conducted about film systems for various applications in the area of wear protection, optics, corrosion, decoration etc.. The students will learn about some essential selective criteria and the testing methods for film systems and will become familiar with modern film architecture, such as used in multilayers, nanocomposite or nano-lmainates.
