The Chair of Flight Mechanics and Control
The Chair of Flight Mechanics and Control has many years of international research experience. This includes classical flight mechanics topics, such as flight performance calculation and the evaluation of flight characteristics criteria, as well as classical flight control, and the development and application of modern control methods. The focus is on the control of parameter varying systems and the robustness analysis of said systems. The research is not limited to classical aeronautical systems, but also investigates modern space systems and green technologies such as wind turbines. A major research drive is bridging the gap between theoretical advances in control theory and complex industrial applications.
The affiliated research group for experimental aerodynamics has many years of expertise, in the field of experimental investigation of flow-physical phenomena. This includes vehicle and aircraft aerodynamics, interaction of wind field and building structures as well as the investigation of cooling air flows in power plant generators. A large number of experimental facilities are available for the accomplishment of these tasks.
