Alexander Seidler studied mechanical engineering at TU Dresden until June 2020, majoring in processing and textile mechanical engineering in the direction of processing machine construction. During his internship at the company Loesch Verpackungstechnik GmbH in Bamberg, department "Construction", he dealt with the standardization and modularization of discontinuous conveying equipment such as carrier belt conveyors and the interface design and automation in the CAD system SolidWorks. Afterwards, Alexander Seidler deepened his knowledge in the field of biomechanics and medical engineering via his research internship and subsequent employment at Fraunhofer IWU.
In the context of his diploma in cooperation with Fraunhofer IWU and the chair, Mr. Seidler investigated the biomechanical load capacity of spinal screws using the finite element method and was able to derive an improved implant design from the simulation results. Since completing his studies, he has been working as a research assistant at the chair in the area of reverse engineering. His work focuses on the development of programmable structures and the further development of bone replacement implants using the finite element method.
