VDI sponsorship prize awarded for Alexandra Schaaf's diploma thesis
At this year's general meeting of the VDI BV Dresden e.V., Alexandra Schaaf was awarded the VDI sponsorship prize. The prize was awarded for her diploma thesis "Development of a process and effective methods for the modular division and density-based design of implants for large bone defects".
The thesis was written at the Chair of Virtual Product Development under the supervision of Prof. Kristin Paetzold-Byhain and Dr. Philipp Sembdner. Alexandra Schaaf developed a fully reproducible process for the modular design of large-area, patient-specific CPC implants. The basis is a parametric Voronoi division, combined with a targeted manner of pore control and a constructively elaborated gap profile, which makes it particularly suitable for use in growing skulls.
We would like to congratulate Alexandra Schaaf on this award and are delighted that her scientifically and methodologically impressive thesis has been recognized.
