The Zacher GmbH from Dresden presented working platforms and docking systems for aircraft maintenance at the inter airport Europe in Munich. For the second time, Zacher decided to integrate a large-format 3D projection as an eye-catcher in the exhibition stand. An animated 3D scene was realised and the projection system provided by the Chair of Construction Technology/CAD at the TU Dresden. A large-format 3D projection offers trade fair visitors the opportunity to experience spatially extended products in their function on the limited and expensive trade fair space. The realised trade fair scene shows an Airbus A380 in a hangar. A working platform is located at the nose of the aircraft, which is moved up to the aircraft and extends to the level of the pilot's cockpit. Further on, the platform and protective railings swing out.
As a special highlight, visitors to the fair can get active themselves. In the role of an apron worker, they can direct the working platform. The control is done by body gestures, which are used in a similar way on the real tarmac for communication between ground staff and aircraft crew. The equipment and the realised scene proved to be a robust solution under trade fair conditions. A passive 3D rear projection with linear polarisation filters, a camera system and a workstation were used. The system functioned trouble-free throughout the trade fair and did not need to be readjusted. Trade fair visitors found the gesture control an interesting alternative and a successful change. The modern way of product presentation supported the presentation of the company as a technology-enthusiastic and technologically innovative company.
