Description:
The analysis of borescope images, regarding thermal paints, is currently a manual task of experts and very time-consuming. Therefore, methods are to be developed which process the results of the measurements as quickly and automatically as possible and provide them to the design engineer as digital twins. Furthermore, the results on the digital twins are to be processed in such a way that a recording, evaluation and potential statistical evaluation of turbomachinery-typical events (discoloration, TBC damage, cracks, ...) is possible.
In the first step of the project boroscope images of turbo components are to be taken. Based on this, a method for the automatic alignment of the scans will be developed and the expected quality of the scans compared to alternative measurement methods (e.g. GOM scanning system) will be assessed. Subsequently, digital twins are to be created from the aligned scans, which can be imported into the component design tools. Machine learning methods will be used for this purpose. The development of an evaluation strategy for the acquisition, evaluation and potentially also statistical evaluation of the boroscoped results concludes this project.
The new methods planned in the projekt should enable the industrial partners to carry out efficient and resource-saving investigations on turbomachines and thus to enable the economical and ecologically motivated high efficiency requirements for aircraft engines. The results to be achieved will allow future projects to be more specifically tailored to the requirements of flexible operating modes.
