Every year, there are a lot of excellent Summer Schools taking place in Dresden: at TU Dresden and at the partner institutions of the DRESDEN-concept research alliance. They run from spring to fall, and offer a fascinating thematic breadth, interdisciplinarity and depth of research. In order to make them even more visible to the international scientific community, the Team Strategy and Internationalization and DRESDEN-concept have taken the initiative to pool the Summer Schools and present them on a central information platform.

The goal is to fully develop this potential in particular for the international profile of TU Dresden and the DRESDEN-concept network. The schools, which are mainly organized by the individual institutes with great commitment and professional expertise, will, in future, be given greater public visibility and even more emphasis.

One first result is the online presence of Summer Schools in Dresden 2023 on the DRESDEN-Concept website. With the concise presentation of a variety of Summer Schools – without any claim to completeness – the go-ahead has been given for a larger visibility campaign for 2024.

Our main objective is to increase the attractiveness of Dresden for international students and junior scientists as part of both the TUD's internationalization strategy and excellence strategy, and to offer high-quality and innovative short formats for teaching and research. To achieve this objective, we will also cooperate with the city of Dresden, with its high quality of life and its vibrant cultural scene in order to make this a tangible and memorable experience for the participants. We would like to build on the positive experiences from the „Summer of Excellence“ (2014-2017) and the international Dresden Summer Schools as a brand.
