Dr. Phung Lan Huong is a chemical engineer. She completed her doctorate at the Chair of Joining Technology on methods for improving adhesive strength. Her role model was her mother, who studied chemistry with a focus on silicate technology in Vietnam, where it is still not common for women to study a technical subject. "In recent years, the number has increased,” says Dr. Phung Lan Huong. After completing her doctorate, Dr. Phung Lan Huong initially returned to teaching in her field of Chemical Engineering at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). Since November 2019, she has been Head of the External Affairs Office at HUST. One aspect of her new post is ensuring that cooperation with Germany continues to grow. She would like to see a strong partnership between HUST and TU Dresden. She also has an excellent network at her disposal within her university. Many Vietnamese alumni of TU Dresden now hold leading positions at HUST.
