TUD secures two more years of funding through the EUTOPIA European University Alliance

The European Union is providing funding for the EUTOPIA University Alliance for two more years. TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) will also benefit from this: For the period from December 2026 to November 2028, TUD Dresden will receive EUR 750,000 in funding. The total budget for the consortium amounts to EUR 7.2 million. EUTOPIA aims to strengthen collaboration among the participating institutions in research and teaching, as well as to support early-career researchers, even beyond 2028.

“This is great news, indeed! I look forward to another two years during which we will advance the European ideal of collaboration in both teaching and research,” emphasizes Prof. Roswitha Böhm, Vice-Rector University Culture and Internationalization at TUD.

EUTOPIA is one of the first alliances of the European University Initiative and has been funded by Erasmus+ since 2019. A successful pilot phase was followed in 2022 by the four-year follow-up project EUTOPIA MORE, which enabled the expansion of joint degree programs, innovative teaching formats, and cross-institutional collaboration. TUD joined the alliance in 2021 and has been receiving EU funding since 2022.

In the new funding phase, TUD will focus its contributions on three areas of the Alliance in particular: In the area of teaching cooperation, it will support the development of micro-credentials and international modules and degree programs within the alliance. TUD will also develop specific teaching formats for early-career researchers for the alliance. A third area is the coordination of initiatives to strengthen European and democratic values at the participating universities.

The EUTOPIA University Alliance brings together ten European universities from ten European countries that have set a common goal of shaping European higher education for the future and preparing students and staff to address societal and global challenges. The Alliance collaborates with 20 associated partners, including DRESDEN-concept, and a network of six non-European universities.
