Hermann-Krone Collection and Collection of Historic Photographic Technology

Krone Instruction Chart “Photography in the Name of Science”, around 1890
The Krone Collection preserves the endowment of the photographer, scientist, university lecturer and publicist Hermann Krone (1827-1916). In 1907, he handed over the Historical Educational Museum for Photography "Historisches Lehrmuseum für Photographie" to the Scientific-Photographic Institute “Wissenschaftlich-Photographisches Institut” of Technical College of Dresden, which was in the process of being founded at the time. The Scientific-Photographic Institute is known today as the Institute of Applied Physics. It contains 137 instruction charts with around 1,200 photos and 10 tableaus featuring approximately 120 daguerreotypes, which were produced using various techniques. Additionally, about 900 negatives, slides and stereoscopies as well as interference colour photos are also part of the collection.
Another institute collection is comprised of about 450 objects of historic photographic technology, including handcrafted models and photographic devices, which have partly been designed for special tests.
