you ask we explain - fears of contact in medicine
"Does active euthanasia hurt?" "How do I deal with it when my child is on crystal?" "What does sex feel like in old age?" "How do I ask my retired rural family doctor for STI education?" These are all questions that people are concerned about, but there are rarely answers. Why, in fact, aren't they? Because the questions are too naive? Because people prefer to avoid the issues? Because we are afraid of contact? Until now, we establish a stage - and talk: Scientific debates and information for all groups of people in an understandable and target group-specific way. Science and research are a fundamental part of our culture and indispensable
for social development. Together with the Carus Lehrzentrum (Teaching Center) (CarL) and the public relations department of the faculty, the project "you ask we explain- fear of contact in medicine" was submitted successfully applied for funding. The framework for this is provided by the project: TUD im Dialog. It is part of the project "Public Outreach" in the EXU focus IMPACT and is intended to contribute to further strengthening the impact of the TUD in society and to achieve an innovative, appropriate and contemporary science communication.
In 2023, with the help of the funding, 12 podcasts and videocasts will be recorded on current, multi-faceted as well as relevant/significant topics for sharing and a transparent look behind the scenes of medicine: Everyone asks - university medicine answers. The focus is on critical exchange between experts and the wider community. Students can demonstrate their skills as moderators and debate with physicians and scientists about questions submitted by society.
Topics such as AI in medicine, gender-specific medicine or errors in medicine are to be discussed and give impulses to society to be able to deal critically with this topic.
Our topics
- January - How it all begins - A debate about life, pregnancy (abortions) and artificial insemination
- February: It wasn't me - mistakes in medicine
- March: It's all a question of genes. The chance of limitless possibilities?
- April: Heroes of research or guinea pigs? - A debate about clinical studies
- May: No time to die - A debate on resuscitation, palliative care and euthanasia.
Communication has never been as important as it is today - especially with regard to medical issues. We want to support this and are looking forward to committed moderators and speakers, as well as numerous questions on the topics. Contact is quickly established:
