The Leica STELLARIS 8 is a confocal research microscope. It is equipped with a white light laser that allows excitation of fluorochromes at any wavelength in a range of 440 - 790 nm. Up to 8 excitation wavelengths can be used simultaneously. This results in a broad spectrum of fluorophore combinations that can be imaged.
The microscope is equipped with an incubator box and associated live cell modules from Okolab, which enables live cell experiments to be carried out.
With the integrated FALCON module (FAst Lifetime CONtrast) fluorescence lifetimes can be determined (FLIM). Fluorescent dyes with similar spectra, which overlap in conventional fluorescence microscopy, can thus be separated on the basis of their lifetimes.
Various inserts allow the use of a wide range of different preparations, such as regular microscope slides, Petri dishes or Labtek chambers.
