CONFERENCE SUMMARY – 1ST DAY OF MOUSE INTRAVITAL MICROSCOPY 2018 IN DRESDEN
On November 15th, scientists and imaging facility members from Germany and Switzerland joined a very inspiring and informative workshop on intravital imaging in Dresden, organized by the German Society for Microscopy and Imaging Analysis (GerBI-GMB) and hosted by the Core Facility Cellular Imaging (CFCI) in cooperation with the Biopolis Dresden Imaging Platform (BioDIP).
The workshop included a very highlighted round table discussion between experienced users of intravital microscopy from a variety of fields. Solutions and strategies to tackle common methodological problems of intravital imaging were intensely discussed in hands-on presentations, leading to a very active exchange between participants.
A variety of speakers covered topics of high interest for the community including animal anesthesia, awake animal imaging, fluorescent biosensors in infection imaging, online image stabilization and the correlation of metabolic and imaging data in the same animal.
Multiple posters were presented and discussed in a very informal and cooperative manner in a joined poster session by the participants. The workshop concluded with a tasty dinner and a social get-together, giving all participants the opportunity to network, exchange experiences and actively participate in discussions about methods and pitfalls in mouse intravital imaging.
Due to the pilot character of this meeting, positive and very constructive feedback, experiences and hot topics of the community were collected, which will be considered in a follow-up meeting next year. All organizers want to thank the participants as well as the sponsors (Femtonics, Arivis, Bitplane Imaris, BioDIP and GerBI-GMB) for their active contributions, an inspiring and friendly atmosphere and valuable comments. See you (and your colleagues) next year!
