In Search of Tomorrow's Doctors: Selection Interviews for the model degree program in human medicine (MEDiC)
Auswahlgespräche für den Modellstudiengang MEDiC.
Who has the best qualifications for the future of medicine? That was the central question this week at the Faculty of Medicine of TUD Desden University of Technology at the Chemnitz Medical Campus. This year’s selection interviews for prospective students of the model degreee program in human medicine (MEDiC) took place at Falkeplatz. A total of 80 applicants from all over Germany accepted the invitation to Chemnitz for what is now the seventh MEDiC cohort, hoping to impress the selection committee in personal interviews.
At various stations, participants had to earn points by providing well-reasoned answers, thereby increasing their chances of securing one of the coveted MEDiC spots. At one station, there was also a practical task involving a simulated patient. In addition to an understanding of scientific concepts, the focus was primarily on personal qualifications. In particular, communication, cooperation, and teamwork skills were evaluated.

There is great anticipation on campus: We hope to welcome numerous applicants as newly enrolled students for the upcoming 2026–2027 winter semester.
As is well known, after the admissions process is before the admissions process: Those who were unable to take advantage of the opportunity this year will have another chance during the MEDiC selection interviews in June 2027. The application period for this will open in April 2027.
The regular allocation of spots in medical programs will take place as usual through the Foundation for University Admissions: https://www.hochschulstart.de/startseite.
