Georg Helm Prize 2026
The Georg Helm Prize is awarded in memory of a mathematician and long-time university lecturer. Born in Dresden in 1851, Georg Helm studied mathematics and physics at the Dresden Polytechnic School and at the University of Leipzig. In 1892, he was appointed Chair of Geometry, Analytical Mechanics and Mathematical Physics at Dresden Technical University and taught at the Dresden university for more than 30 years. In 1910/11, Georg Helm was Rector of the Technische Hochschule Dresden.
The TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) and the Verein zur Förderung von Studierenden der TUD Dresden University of Technology e.V. (Association for the Promotion of Students of the TUD Dresden University of Technology) annually honor three outstanding scientific works by TUD students by awarding them the Georg Helm Prize. Every faculty, every department and every Central Academic Unit of the TUD can nominate a dissertation and a diploma thesis or comparable final thesis (Master's thesis, state examination). The work should be completed and successfully defended in the period from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. Expressions of interest within the Faculty of Medicine must be submitted by Wednesday, July 1, 2026 with a CV, list of publications and copies of the reviews to the Research and International Affairs Department .
