Start of the semester: Welcome to the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine!
The Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden has welcomed the new first semester students for the winter semester 2025/26. The opening ceremony began with words of welcome from Prof. Esther Troost, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Petra Köpping, Minister of State for Social Affairs, Health and Social Cohesion.
In her speech, Prof. Troost reminded the students of what really matters: "You have a goal in mind that is greater than any exam: To help people, to save lives, to accompany families."

The Deans of Studies then presented the degree programs Medicine, Dentistry, Midwifery, Medical Radiation Sciences and the MEDiC model degree program. The event was accompanied by music from the medical band "The Big Band Therapy".
The sixth MEDiC class was also welcomed at the Chemnitz Medical Campus (MCC-TUD) last week with numerous excursions and activities. In the ballroom of the Küchwald site, the new students of the model degree program in Human Medicine of the Medical Faculty of TU Dresden were welcomed by the Dean of Studies Prof. Klaus Zöphel and the Medical Director of Klinikum Chemnitz gGmbH Prof. Martin Wolz.

After the welcome, a colourful first semester week started for the newcomers with hikes, pub crawls and legendary parties organized by the Faculty Student Councils in Dresden and Chemnitz.
We wish all new students a successful start and look forward to our time together!
