Award of the Saxon Constitutional Medal to Prof. Antje Bergmann
State Parliament President Dr Matthias Rößler honoured Prof. Antje Bergmann with the Saxon Constitutional Medal.
On Saturday, June 8, 2024, eight personalities were honored with the Saxon Constitutional Medal in Dresden's Ständehaus. This award, presented by State Parliament President Dr. Matthias Rößler, recognizes exceptional services to the values of the Saxon Constitution.
Award for Prof. Dr. Antje Bergmann
One of the award winners is Prof. Antje Bergmann, Saxony's first female professor of general medicine. She received the Constitutional Medal for her scientific work and her commitment to the promotion of early-career researchers in general medicine.
Prof. Bergmann studied human medicine at Humboldt University Berlin and TU Dresden. She has worked as a researcher and lecturer since 2002 and has headed the Chair of General Medicine at the TU Dresden Faculty of Medicine since 2010. In addition to her academic work, she cares for patients in her group practice in Dresden and is involved in the training and further education of future GPs.
Her work in professional politics includes memberships and leadership positions in important committees and organizations, including the German Society of General Practice and the Saxon State Medical Association.
"Prof. Antje Bergmann is receiving the Saxon Constitutional Medal today for her multifaceted work in the field of general practice. Her scientific achievements and her commitment to the promotion of early-career researchers deserve the highest recognition. I would like to congratulate her most sincerely," said Dr. Matthias Rößler.
Background to the Saxon Constitutional Medal
Established in 1997, the Saxon Constitutional Medal is awarded annually to individuals who have rendered outstanding services to the free and democratic development of the Free State of Saxony. Alongside the Saxon Order of Merit, it is the state's highest state award.
