Support program
ONCOnnect Dresden is a junior research program for medical scientists in the doctoral phase in the field of basic oncological research. The research program covers a period of four years.
In order to improve medical research, it is necessary for researchers in the natural and basic sciences to also work on medical issues (medical scientists). Although this already happens in many cases, research is often theoretically oriented or lacks a deeper understanding of medical prerequisites, clinical consequences and the conditions of medical action.
The Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation would like to support the medical faculties and university hospitals in Germany within the framework of scientific colleges to improve the establishment of young, highly talented scientists in the School of Medicine. The aim is to optimize research for the benefit of better patient treatment.
To this end, the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation has announced the establishment of up to three Medical Scientist Colleges, each endowed with €1 million for a period of four years. The programs can be located either in the doctoral or postdoctoral phase.
Specific patient-oriented research projects are to be worked on and further developed within the framework of the college, accompanied by an interprofessional training program.
