ONCOnnect introduces itself
Multidimensional approaches and technologies, as well as synergetic interprofessional collaboration in oncology, help to understand the complexity of tumour diseases and significantly improve personalized patient care. ONCOnnect sees itself at the interface between basic oncological research and clinical practice and identifies key areas for translating scientific advances into new therapies. This includes robotic surgical assistance systems and image-guided high-precision radiation techniques as well as personalized cell therapeutics and computer-based simulations. ONCOnnect Medical Scientists already have an eye on possible application errors in their research projects during the doctoral phase and gain an insight into the value chain from the initial idea to the marketability of novel oncological applications.
The joint supervision of the ONCOnnect fellows by an experienced and scientifically excellent clinician and medical scientist tandem reflects the transdisciplinary approach of the fellowship and provides tangible role models. The multidimensional research approaches of the ONCOnnect Translation Lines Radio-Onco, Precision Onco, Onco-Data Science and Onco-Surgery reflect the dynamic developments in personalized oncology as well as the translation from academic to industrial research, so that the ONCOnnect fellows have possible fields of application of the doctoral project in mind right from the start. This becomes tangible for the young scientists through the direct insight into the hospital infrastructure and patient care, as well as the rotation into industry.
