Carl Gustav Carus Sponsorship Awards 2025 for outstanding dissertations or scientific publications - closing date 01.08.25

The Dresden University Medicine Foundation, together with the Research and International Affairs Department of the Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden, is awarding this year's sponsorship prizes for outstanding dissertations and scientific publications.

Students or graduates who have completed a doctorate with the grade "summa cum laude" or "magna cum laude" with defense in the period from 01.07.2024 to 30.06.2025 can apply for the "Förderpreis für hervorragende Promotion".

Young scientists at a clinic or Institute of the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine or University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus who have published an outstanding scientific paper in the same period can apply for the Publication Award (sponsored by the Faculty of Medicine, Research and International Affairs).

The award winners are selected from the applications received by the independent Scholarship Grants Committee (SBA). The SBA assigns the work for the doctoral award to one of the following categories.

• Clinical area (physicians)
• Experimental-theoretical area (physicians)
• Dental field (dentists and doctors)
• Experimental field (natural scientists and Dr. rer. medic. / PhD graduates)
• Health sciences (Dr. rer. medic. graduates)

The Dean of Research will evaluate the publication prize.

Applicants should have completed their qualifying degree no more than 10 years ago; doctorates for a Dr. med. or Dr. med. dent. should have been started during their studies. A connection to the local medical faculty must be clearly recognizable. A resubmission after a previous unsuccessful application or a parallel application for another prize excludes participation. The publication prize and the first sponsorship prizes for an outstanding doctorate are each endowed with up to € 1,000. The number of further prizes to be awarded depends on the number and quality of the entries received.

The deadline for all applications is August 01, 2025.
