Relevance of Sex, Gender and Diversity in Translational Research
Some patients are more visible than others are. Emerging from a historic lack of attention to sex, gender and diversity dimensions in basic and clinical research there are still various 'blind spots' to be addressed. The Hidden Patient Series aims to increase the uptake of sex, gender and diversity considerations in translational medicine and wants to give the hidden patients a face.
We are very proud to have a pioneer of gender medicine Prof. Vera Regitz-Zagrosek as guest speaker for our kick-off. She will give a lecture on „Sex and gender in basic research“. Prof. Regitz-Zagroseks research focusses on sex and gender differences in cardiovascular diseases, in basic and clinical science and public health. She founded the „Berlin Institute for Gender in Medicine“ (GiM) – at the Charité and is founding president of the German and International Society for Gender Medicine.
Her lecture will be complemented by that of a Dresdner junior Clinician Scientist. CPKD and EKFK fellow Dr. Suzan Al Gburi will present her exciting work "Gender-specific differences in cardiovascular health and disease" which was awarded this year's DÄB science prize.
The event will be held exclusively virtually.
