The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) funds projects on the topic of "clinical studies with high relevance for the care of patients with post-infectious diseases".
The aim of this funding initiative is to close evidence gaps that are highly relevant for patients affected by PAIS (post-acute infection syndromes) and for the medical care of these people in Germany.
The funding initiative serves the purpose of funding science-initiated clinical studies and systematic reviews of clinical studies according to international standards in the field of PAIS as well as concept phases for clinical studies. In particular, projects that aim to close evidence gaps and are highly relevant for the patients concerned and the healthcare system are to be funded.
Details on the guidelines can be found on the BMFTR website . It is a two-stage procedure, project outlines must be submitted by 02.09.2026.
