BMFTR promotes interdisciplin­ary research into the development, manifestation and treatment of menopausal symptoms

The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) funds interdisciplinary research to better understand the development, manifestation and treatment of menopausal symptoms.

Possible starting points for research include

• Investigations into the underlying mechanisms of menopausal symptoms and any resulting starting points for treatment options or risk factors for non-communicable diseases;
• Identification of methods and biomarkers that enable a better classification of menopausal stages and earlier identification of menopausal symptoms;
• Science-initiated studies to improve pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment methods for different patient groups;
• Investigation of premature menopause (premature ovarian insufficiency): Causes, identification of risk factors, starting points for diagnostics and therapy options.

The procedure has two stages. The deadline for submitting the project outline is April 15, 2026 12:00 noon.
