17.01.-22.01.2026 SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco, USA.
Our doctoral students Miriam Sasse and Christian Schmidt presented groundbreaking results from biophotonic research at Photonics West 2026 in San Francisco. At the leading SPIE BiOS conference, they presented their work on polarization-sensitive and dynamic OCT - with a focus on the precise analysis of dental hard tissue and oral tissues. Their contributions in the sessions "Polarization Sensitive OCT I" and "Dynamic Contrast OCT II" underline the high scientific relevance and innovative power of our research.

22.06.-26.06.2025 European Conference on Biomedical Optics (ECBO) 2025 in Munich. With the lectures on polarization-sensitive OCT in the VIS and NIR range, as well as Brillouin spectroscopy and label-free nonlinear microscopy, PD Dr. Roberta Galli, Dr. Jan Rix, Mr. Johannes Reinhold and PD Dr. Julia Walther successfully presented the results of the current research projects of the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering (MPH) at the ECBO 2025 conferences.
20.06.2025 Dresden Science Night 2025: Together with the Clinical Sensing and Monitoring working group, we presented pioneering optical imaging modalities for clinical diagnostics and their use in our medically motivated research projects as well as innovative constructions and 3D printing techniques for translational biomedical research to a broad audience.
07.06.-14.06.2025 SPIE Biophotonics Summer School on the Swedish island of Ven. Together with a large number of PhD candidates from international biophotonics working groups, Mr. Johannes Reinhold was able to gain insights into the application of these in the field of biomedical research in interesting lectures on optical biosensor technology with a focus on innovative methods and current technical solutions and was given the opportunity to present the research results achieved as part of his doctoral thesis.
28.05.2025 We congratulate our team on 11th place out of 47 mixed teams from the University Hospital at the 16th Rewe Team Challenge.
25.01.-30.01.2024 SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco, USA. Mr. Johannes Reinhold gave his lecture "Advancing dental diagnostics with polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography for early caries detection" at the BiOS Conference Polarization-Sensitive OCT: Clinical Translation and presented his poster "Elaboration of strategies for polarization-sensitive ultrahigh resolution visible light optical coherence tomography" at the BiOS poster session.

At the end of this successful year, we would like to thank all employees, colleagues and collaborators for their daily commitment and motivation to realize joint projects. 14.06.2024 Ms. Ronja Köhler and Ms. Stella Hund successfully presented the results of their doctorates at the annual conference of the German Society for Tooth Preservation(DGZ) and the German Society for Prosthetic Dentistry and Biomaterials e.V. (DGPro) in short presentations.

12.06.2024 Participation in the 15th Rewe Team Challenge - Dresden's largest company run set a new record with 28,500 participants in 2024. We are delighted with the 19th place of all mixed teams from the University Hospital and congratulate all runners on their successful participation in this special team event.
