Doctoral defense Dr. med. dent. Stella Hund

We congratulate Dr. Stella Maria Margaretha Hund on the excellent defence of her dissertation entitled: "Visualization of de- and remineralization processes on dental hard tissues with optical coherence tomography - an in-vitro study", supervised by PD Dr. rer. medic. habil. Julia Walther and Prof. Dr. med. dent. Christian Hannig(Polyclinic for Tooth Preservation).

In her dissertation, Ms Hund addressed a current issue in dental diagnostics: the application of polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography (PS-OCT) for high-resolution and non-invasive imaging of de- and remineralization processes in tooth enamel. Her innovative work combines optical imaging with a standardized pH cycle model and provides practice-relevant findings for the potential clinical use of PS-OCT for the early detection of caries.
