Biophotonics and medical technology
Our Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering (AB MPH & BMT) researches and develops biophotonic technologies for translational biomedical research and clinical application. The main research focus is on optical coherence tomography (OCT) (Walther group) as well as infrared spectroscopy and non-linear optical microscopy (Galli group).

Research expertise
1) Research and in vivo evaluation of innovative imaging techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), multiphoton microscopy and combined Brillouin-Raman spectroscopy.
2) Development of miniaturized endoscopic optics for non-invasive and minimally invasive in vivo imaging during routine clinical examinations and surgical procedures.
3) Concepts and solutions for optimized data and image processing in basic and translational research with the overarching goal of improving patient care.
