In the last decade cancer metabolism has emerged as a cancer hallmark. Although it has been almost a century since Otto Warburg described a difference in cellular metabolism in cancer cells, cancer-specific metabolic alterations have not been fully exploited therapeutically. Increasing numbers of studies showed both the complexity and the promise of targeting metabolism as a therapeutic strategy in cancer. It is time for scientists and clinicians working on this strategy to meet and exchange their experience.
With a translational focus, the symposium brings together oncologists and researchers interested in exploiting the metabolic bias of tumors for therapeutic interventions. It aims to shed light and bring to discussion novel translational approaches that are either currently under clinical testing or show translational potential in preclinical studies.
