Every year, the European Hematology Association (EHA) selects 20 Clinician scientists from all over the world for a high-profile mentoring program. Dr. Marius Bill, assistant physician at the Medical Clinic I of Dresdens University Hospital and co-leader of the research group „Non-coding RNAs in cancer – WuBi-Lab“ at the Mildred Scheel Early Career Center (MSNZ) and the Translational Medical Oncology of the NCT/UCC Dresden is one of the winners of the "Clinical Research Training in Hematology 2022".
"It is very important to me that we transfer findings from our laboratory work to the clinic as efficiently as possible. For example, we are currently investigating how therapy resistance in acute myeloid leukemia can be overcome by an antibody that interrupts a specific signaling cascade. The aim would be to test this antibody as a targeted drug in clinical trials in the future," explains Dr. Marius Bill.
The program is tailored to receive exactly these qualifications. For one year, the fellows are coached by 16 leading experts in hematological research, including workshops. Afterwards, the participants are able to independently design and conduct clinical studies, know how to cooperate with all relevant partners and which framework conditions have to be observed. In addition, international scientific exchange plays an important role.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to learn from internationally leading experts. I would like to use these newly gained knowledge to foster our translational research in Dresden," says Dr. Bill.
