We have liftoff!
The MSNZ-P2, the Dresden leg of the German wide Mildred Scheel Early Career Center initiative by the Deutsche Krebshilfe, is now complete and ready for moon-shot projects. Founded in 2019 to support new research groups of clinician and medical scientists working at the frontiers of precision oncology in Germany, the MSNZ network steadily grew in fellow numbers. The Dresden initiative is led by Prof. Martin Bornhäuser and Prof. Frank Buchholz. With the last groups now having signed, the MSNZ Dresden is home to 11 research groups. Four of these groups are “tandem research groups” jointly led by a clinician and a medical scientist. Of the 11 teams, seven are led or co-lead by female fellows, a great step towards parity in precision oncology research. The diversity is also reflected by our teams being led by leaders from a total of six different nationalities. While we could not celebrate the MSNZ opening 2020 in person, a first online meeting took place this week to officially welcome all fellows and their groups to the Dresden Johannstadt campus.
