DTOS - Dresden Translational Oncology SeminarsDresden Translational Oncology Seminar (DTOS): Prof. Jan-Henning Klusmann/ Prof. Dirk Heckl
Prof. Dirk Heckl, Universitätsklinikum Halle
Together, oncologist Prof. Dr. med. Jan-Henning Klusmann and biomedical scientist Prof. Dirk Heckl have already successfully published on the molecular mechanisms of childhood blood cancers. At the upcoming DTOS seminar, on 03.11.2021 5 pm, they will highlight the epigenetic principles of this disease with respect to their ongoing research.
Already during his doctoral studies at Children's Hospital Boston Jan-Henning Klusmann already focused on the molecular principles of children leukemia development. After completing his residency and establishing his own Emmy Noether Junior Research Group in Hannover, the Göttingen native followed the call to the Department of Pediatric Oncology at the University of Halle/Saale in 2018. Since the beginning of 2021, he has been Director of the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt, where he also heads the ERC Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Research Group. Dirk Heckl holds the professorship of Experimental Pediatrics at the University Hospital Halle/Saale since 2019. Previously, he carried out research in Halle and at Boston Children's Hospital as a fellow of the Max-Eder-Program. His research focuses on the development of leukemia, in particular acute myeloid leukemia (AML), genome editing with CRISPR/Cas9, and the study of epigenetic regulators and the associated search for new therapeutic options.
Exciting topic or interested in learning more about translational teamwork between Clinician and Medical Scientists? Or maybe you are interested in the experience of the speakers regarding their research funding like Emmy-Noether, Max-Eder and ERC? Then feel free to sign up via email for a short, one-on-one chat with the speakers after their talks.
One continuing education point can be claimed for the event with SLÄK. The event is hybrid planned. In compliance with the applicable hygiene measures, participation in house 66, 3rd floor/conference room is possible (live broadcast), prior registration at peggy.jungke@uniklinikum-dresden.de is advantageous.
