PD Dr. Felix Freiherr von Bechtolsheim receives Ferdinand Sauerbruch Research Prize of the BCG.

PD Dr. Felix Freiherr von Bechtolsheim, who co-leads the Surgical Skills Lab Dresden, has been awarded the Ferdinand Sauerbruch Research Prize of the Berlin Surgical Society – Association of Surgeons of Berlin and Brandenburg (BCG) – at the 51st Berlin-Brandenburg Surgeons' Meeting in Berlin. The prize is awarded jointly with the Ferdinand Sauerbruch Support Association (Förderkreis Ferdinand Sauerbruch e.V.) and ranks among the most prestigious scientific awards in German surgery.

On the occasion of the award ceremony, PD Dr. von Bechtolsheim presented a scientific lecture on the key findings of his postdoctoral thesis entitled "Skills in Minimally Invasive Surgery: Training and Influencing Factors". The work is dedicated to the systematic investigation of the acquisition, assessment, and targeted promotion of surgical skills in the field of minimally invasive surgery.

The award recognises the outstanding scientific achievements of PD Dr. von Bechtolsheim and highlights the national significance of the Surgical Skills Lab Dresden as a leading research group for the advancement of surgical training concepts. The Surgical Skills Lab Dresden is part of the Department of Visceral, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden and is dedicated to the development, evaluation, and implementation of modern training concepts for minimally invasive surgery.
