Dear visitors,

On behalf of the entire team, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you to the website of the Institute for the History of Medicine at the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine, TU Dresden.

On 1 March 2022, I took up my position as Director of the Institute and Professor of Ethics and the History of Medicine and Dentistry. On our website, you will find information on our key areas of work, courses, research projects and other activities offered by our institute.

• We are dedicated to teaching and research on the histories of medicine and dentistry, the healthcare system, nursing and the doctor-patient relationship.
• In line with our many years of expertise, we also work with the Clinical Ethics Committee to provide ethical case consultations and training courses for the University Hospital and enquirers from the region.
• At selected locations across the campus and at the University Hospital, we are exhibiting interesting objects relating to the history of medicine and providing information on the eventful history of the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital.
• Our extensive and thematically specialised departmental library serves as a valuable repository of knowledge and, at the same time, as laboratory in which we gain new scientific insights.
