A Look Back at Our Summer Festival and Graduation Ceremony on August 28, 2026

More than 150 biologists—faculty, alumni, students, and graduates—attended our Faculty of Biology summer festival on August 28, 2026. The event kicked off at 3:00 p.m. with a symposium:

Prof. Thorsten Mascher—Dean of the Faculty—welcomed the guests and guided them through the program. Graduates of the Faculty of Biology—Franz Ellenberger, Aaron Anselmi, and Dr. Denis Iliasov—shared brief insights into their educational experiences. Dr. Susanne Bastian—President of the Saxon State Research Institute / an alumna of the Faculty of Biology—spoke about her career path after graduation, and Prof. Röbbe Wünschiers from Mittweida University of Applied Sciences was welcomed as a new co-opted associate member of the faculty and gave a brief introductory presentation on his research work.

Following the public portion of the event, our graduates from the classes of 2023–2025 were duly celebrated and honored with a shower of confetti in the faculty hall. Afterward, a lively summer party continued into the night, featuring music, good conversation, and a delicious buffet.

A heartfelt thank you to our organizing team and our many volunteers and supporters for the successful and wonderful evening. As we say, “After the party is before the party”—see you again soon!
