Professor Brixius places particular emphasis on interdisciplinary, practical research between history and biology, but also zoology, medicine and theology, which is reflected in a large number of smaller projects and collaborations. She is particularly interested in historical praxeology, i.e. the practical application of knowledge in the past in a variety of fields.
