Heat shock proteins and their role in Plasmodiophora brassicae infection
Despite its harmful effects on humans, the environment and other living organisms, chemical control remains the most widely used method of controlling clubroot disease, but it no longer provides satisfactory results in reducing the spread of the disease in the recent years. For this reason, the biocontrol by using micro-organisms as natural enemies such as bacteria and fungi was one of the best solutions that play an ever-greater role in the sustainable control of clubroot. Many micro-organisms such as bacteria and fungi have been used in the biocontrol of clubroot (Trichoderma, Bacillus and Pseudomonas), but with varying results, especially in field trials. Pseudomonas protegens has been successfully used in the biocontrol of many fungal diseases (Pythium, Rizoctonia, Fusarium) and will now be evaluated for its efficacy to control clubroot disease with the method portfolio available for Acremonium.
