2nd International Conference on Material Synthesis in ILs
Cancelled!
Short description
Virtually every field of application has at least seen attempts to use ionic liquids (ILs) for advanced materials design. They are unique compounds due to a combination of useful properties: they exhibit a high thermal and chemical stability, coordinative inertness, polar aprotic properties, and low vapour pressure. Thus, ILs provide access to novel metal clusters and coordination polymers, to halogen- and pseudohalogen-rich compounds, they are able to stabilize nanomaterials and enable low-temperature syntheses. The potential of ILs for synthetic chemistry is far from fully exploited, and offers scope for many more spectacular compounds. For this purpose, we need to gain more insights into how ILs can be used to design complex materials, and understand how to control these reactions. The aim of this conference is to bring together scientists and enable lively discussion on the potential of ILs in the synthesis and design of novel materials.
