DAAD project 'IMPRESS' receives grant for two more project years
For 2023 and 2024, the ZLSB receives another funding of around 300,000 euros for its successful internationalisation project IMPRESS (Internationality via Mobility Projects, Research and Educational Synergies) as part of the DAAD programme 'Lehramt International'. Existing since 2019, the project strategically aims to increase internationality as an inherent and essential part of teacher training at TU Dresden, supporting students in developing their intercultural competence and helping to prepare future teachers to work in culturally heterogeneous classrooms.
Cooperation models that have been established to date focus on regional networking with universities and educational institutions in the 'local area' of Dresden (universities in Poland and the Czech Republic) as well as global collaboration with partners in the USA, Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Iran and South Africa. With more than 50 international partner universities and schools, a resourceful network has been built over the past few years which offers students and staff many opportunities for international experience and cooperation. (Prospective) teachers are supported by a substantial counselling service, which aims to develop international mobility as a visible component of teacher training. During the first period of funding, the ZLSB successfully created an International School Network, that enables student teachers to find universities for study visits as well as schools for school internships abroad.
During the first funding phase, which was very much affected by the pandemic, the main focus was on piloting virtual teaching and learning formats within international settings, which simultaneously enable collaborative learning in bi-, tri- or multinational student working groups. These virtual activities have enormously enriched the cooperation with the ZLSB's international partners. During the next two years of the project, the focus will shift more towards promoting student mobility and additive teaching opportunities. The implementation and further development of virtual teaching formats will also remain an integral part of the project.
