GDCh Chemiedozentagung and Spring Meeting of the Working Group Phosphorus Chemistry to be held at TU Dresden
From Sunday, 12 March 2023, the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry at TU Dresden will welcome numerous representatives of their field from all over Germany. Chaired by Prof. Jan J. Weigand, the Spring Meeting of the Working Group Phosphorus Chemistry of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (German Chemical Society (GDCh)) will take place from 12 to 13 March. This will be followed by the Chemiedozententagung (CDT) from 13 March to 15 March 2023, which is aimed in particular at young academics. Participants at both conferences can expect a varied scientific program, plenty of room for discussion and networking, a diverse social program and also awards for special achievements.
"Sustainable Phosphorus Chemistry" is the focus of this year's Spring Meeting of the Working Group Phosphorus Chemistry, which will take place at TU Dresden. About 45 participants are expected. Organiser Jan J. Weigand, Professor of Inorganic Molecular Chemistry at TU Dresden, has been researching with his group for several years on the development of modern and novel concepts in main group chemistry. Last year, he already made a decisive breakthrough in the functionalisation of white phosphorus. He is therefore particularly looking forward to exchanging ideas with national and international colleagues on further innovative developments in the field. The program offers lectures on both synthesis and materials chemistry. In addition, Prof. Dr. Werner Uhl from the WWU Münster will be honored for his outstanding achievements with the so-called "Pioneer's Lecture", which will open the scientific programme of the meeting on 12 March.

Directly afterwards, on Monday 13 March 2023, the Chemiedozentagung (Chemistry Lecturers' Conference) will start, to which Prof. Jan J. Weigand (Chair), Prof. Thomas Henle, Prof. Bernd J. Plietker and Prof. Tobias A. M. Gulder from TU Dresden and the Association of German University Professors of Chemistry (ADUC) invited more than 300 participants. The Chemiedozentagung (CDT) is a symposium that brings together young academics from all areas of chemistry. The young scientists from all over Germany use this platform to present their research and exchange ideas. In addition to the extensive scientific program with lectures from various fields of chemistry, there are numerous informative workshops ranging from project proposal writing to research data management to "Applying for a Professorship". Furthermore, prizes for special scientific achievements will be awarded during the event, including the Horst-Pracejus-Prize and the Carl-Duisberg-Gedächtnis-Prize. A social program with a guided tour of the city and a get-together will round off the three-day conference.
