Public lecture series ‘Psychology on Saturdays’ begins on 24 November
From 24 November 2026, the Faculty of Psychology at TU Dresden invites anyone interested to attend its public lecture series ‘Psychology on Saturdays’. Over seven Saturdays during the 2026/27 winter semester, researchers will provide fascinating insights into current topics in psychology – from the fundamentals to practical applications. All lectures will be held in German.
The lectures will take place every Saturday at 11.00 am in the Andreas-Schubert-Bau (Zellescher Weg 19, Lecture Theatre 28). Following each lecture, which lasts approximately one hour, there will be an opportunity to ask questions about the topics, research content or the psychology study programs. No registration is required.
To kick off the series, M.Sc Rita Hansl will speak on Soziale Fähigkeiten und mentale Gesundheit (‘Social Skills and Mental Health’).
As the winter semester progresses, the program will include the following topics:
7 November 2026 Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Alexander Strobel: Was ist Intelligenz? (What is intelligence?)
14 November 2026 Dr. sc. hum. Kristina Schwarz: Gedanken beobachten, statt von ihnen gesteuert zu werden: Metakognitive Therapie zwischen klinischer Praxis und
Neurowissenschaft (Observing thoughts rather than being controlled by them: Metacognitive therapy between clinical practice and neuroscience)
21 November 2026 Dr. Romy Müller: Von Schokoladenmaschinen und Pferdehufen: Wie unterscheiden sich die Denkprozesse von Experten innerhalb und zwischen Domänen (On chocolate machines and horses’ hooves: How do experts’ thought processes differ within and across domains?)
