Review: Audit "Shaping Diversity" - Thinking Diversity Forward at TUD
Diversity needs spaces for exchange - and this is exactly what the event "Vielfalt weiterdenken" (Thinking Diversity Forward) on September 3, 2025 at the TUD Dresden University of Technology offered.
Last Wednesday, numerous members of the university came together to reflect on the measures developed as part of the "Shaping Diversity" audit and their implementation status, to share experiences and to provide new impetus for further development.
After a welcoming address by Vice-Rector University Culture and Internationalization Prof. Roswitha Böhm, Dr Isabell Lisberg-Haag opened the substantive part of the event with her keynote speech "Diversity - Nice to have or a university policy necessity?". She impressively illustrated why diversity is essential for university development.
A central element of the morning was the Gallery Walk, where participants were able to find out about the implementation status of the audit measures, make comments and network. Feedback was collected in the subsequent exchange and an outlook was given for further joint work.
The morning offered all participants a space to
-
pause and examine what has become of the original impulses and ideas in the auditing process,
-
think further about measures and discover synergies in order to identify future needs,
-
and to discuss how we can work together to create a university that not only recognizes diversity, but actively lives and promotes it.
The results of the day form the basis for the Unit Diversity Management to continue to anchor diversity at the TUD with numerous actors as a cross-sectional and management task and to develop it sustainably.
