Nov. 9, 2023, 12 p.m.: "Collection Over Lunch" kicks off the 2023/24 winter semester with a tour of the Physical Equipment Collection.
In the winter semester 2023/24, the Custody will continue its event series "Collection over Lunch". For two semesters now, together with the collection officers, it has been inviting TUD staff and students as well as interested members of the public to the university's collection rooms on every second Thursday of the month at noon. Short guided tours provide exciting and entertaining insights into the university's collections as well as into the current use of the historical teaching materials and exhibits.
To kick things off, Göran Tronicke will lead a tour of the Physical Equipment Collection in the Recknagel Building on Thursday, November 9, 2023. With its 200 exhibits, the Physical Equipment Collection is one of the oldest collections at TU Dresden. The collection was first mentioned in 1836, and a large part of the equipment goes back to August Toepler (1836-1912), Professor of Experimental Physics and Director of the Institute of Physics at the Dresden University of Technology between 1876 and 1900.
The series continues on Dec. 14, 2023, at the Hermann Krone Collection and the Scientific Photographic Collection, and Jan. 11, 2024, at the Herbarium Dresdense.
All dates can be found in our calendar of events.
