Do plants really grow better with music?
Do you have a favorite plant? Do plants grow better with music? And do botanists really know every plant by its Latin name? We asked these and many other exciting questions to the scientists at the Chair of Botany at TU Dresden - directly in the Botanical Garden Dresden between cacti and plants from the rainforest
You can also find out in this video:
- whether botanists secretly talk to their plants
- why you can't name plants you discover after yourself.
- whether genetic manipulation of plants is really problematic.
- which plant species they don't like at all.

About the Botanical Garden of TU Dresden: In the heart of the city, the Botanical Garden Dresden invites you to discover the world of plants. Around 10,000 plant species grow on the grounds on the edge of the Großer Garten, the largest and oldest inner-city park. The origins of the plant collection date back to 1815. Today, the Botanical Garden is a central unit of TU Dresden and as such is involved in research and teaching in a variety of ways. There are also numerous opportunities for the public and school classes to learn more about the world of plants.
About the "Sitzgelegenheit" format: In each episode, people who share a common characteristic - their workplace, their studies or their field of research - take a seat on our chair. In the videos, we ask questions from the community and dispel prejudices and clichés.
