In 2014, Osaka University was declared a strategic partner of the School of Science, TU Dresden. Since then, Japanese and Dresden scientists have generated a large number of joint activities, also beyond the borders of Osaka and the Kansai Region.

A significant instrument of networking and partnership development is the interdisciplinary symposium iJaDe, which takes place every three years, alternately in Dresden and in Japan.
