Information on the advanced didactics course
Information on the "Mathematics Education: Advanced Course" module (starting in the fall semester of 23/24)
• The course “Didactics of Arithmetic/Algebra,” consisting of 1 SWS of lecture and 1 SWS of exercise, is mandatory for all students and concludes with the PL exam. It is listed in the study plan for the 7th semester (winter semester), but is always offered in the summer semester due to capacity constraints.
• Furthermore, the module includes 4 SWS of seminars. The following options are available
- for high school: Geometry (Secondary Level I); Stochastics (High School); Digital Media in Mathematics Education
- for Gymnasium and BBS: Geometry (Secondary Level II) + Calculus; Advanced Stochastics; Digital Media in Mathematics Education
The seminars are offered in both the winter and summer semesters. You do not have to take both seminars in the same semester!
Students must take two of these seminars and give one presentation for each. The course grade is a composite grade calculated as the unweighted average of the two presentation grades. If three seminars were attended, the two best grades are automatically used.
PLEASE NOTE: Registration for the comprehensive assessment via SELMA can only take place in the semester in which the second seminar is attended.
• The third seminar can also be taken as part of the supplementary curriculum. Likewise, GYM/BBS teacher education students can also take the “Geometry Sek I” seminar as part of the supplementary curriculum. In addition, we regularly offer other seminars as part of the supplementary curriculum.
