Application
Information and Statement of Interest
Information event
An information event covering the ECMI Educational Programme Mathematics for Industry and the EU Erasmus+ programme is held once a year, usually in January. The exact date is announced on this page and through the Faculty in good time before the application deadline.
Before applying, please inform yourself thoroughly about your preferred host university — its course offering, language requirements and accommodation options. Compare the courses on offer there with your study programme at TU Dresden; good preparation sets realistic expectations and strengthens your application.
A list of all ECMI partner universities is available on the ECMI consortium website.
Statement of Interest — January to March
Please submit the completed Statement-of-Interest form (PDF, see below) to the ECMI contact person, PD Dr. Anke Kalauch.
Application to the ECMI contact person
Application period: January to the end of March.
Please submit the following documents to PD Dr. Anke Kalauch, the ECMI contact person:
- Statement of Interest (if not yet submitted) — PDF form, see below
- Letter of motivation — PDF form, see below
- Proof of study progress so far (e. g. transcript of records)
- Curriculum vitae (tabular)
- Evidence of your language skills (see below)
Language skills. A good command of English is required — the teaching and working environment at ECMI partner universities is mostly in English. A higher level (B2/C1 CEFR as a guideline) is recommended but not formally prescribed. Depending on the host university, basic knowledge of the local language may additionally be helpful.
Getting in touch before applying. Feel free to contact Prof. Dr. Stefan Siegmund (ECMI Coordinator) or PD Dr. Anke Kalauch (ECMI contact person) at any time, without obligation — we are happy to advise on the choice of host university and the preparation of your documents. The formal application to the partner university is then handled in coordination with PD Dr. Kalauch.
ECMI Certificate. Upon successful completion of all ECMI-relevant study components (semester abroad, Modelling Week, industry-related master’s thesis) you receive — in addition to the Master’s degree from TU Dresden — the ECMI Certificate, recognised across Europe as a qualification in industrial mathematics. Details: Requirements for the ECMI Certificate.
