Orientation Week Events 2024
Table of contents
We are looking forward to the ESE! Here you can find the current program. It can still change until mid-September - but the ESE week is fixed: October 6-10, 2025!
What's it all about?
Here you can find all the information about this year's ESE events. Whether it's parties, culture, hiking, eating, drinking, games and fun - there really is something for everyone!
The first semester orientation (ESE for short) traditionally takes place one week before the start of lectures (06.10.-10.10.2025) and is designed to help you get to know the course of studies, the city, the campus and, above all, your fellow students. You will be divided into mentoring groups and spend the week with two to three students from a higher semester and about 10 other first-year students from your degree program.
During this week, we have again decided on some great activities. You will get to know the campus, pick up your first semester bag and take part in the Neustadt rally.
So it's worth coming to Dresden this week!

What can you do now?
1. join our Discord server, where we will share all relevant information about the program.
2. don't stress about putting together your timetable. The enrolment itself will take place during Freshers' Week. Your mentors will do this together with you. They can also explain to you exactly what you need to choose and how.

Campus tour
Your mentors will show you the most important places on campus that you will need for your studies. This will also be the first chance for Bachelor students to meet their fellow students in person.
New town rally
A highlight of the week. The groups will be shuffled again and you will compete against the other teams in various games. We have provided enough alcohol for those of you who would like to have a drink.
Bring & Eat
On Wednesday we take it easy for the time being. Weather permitting, we'll meet in the Great Garden - the green lung of Dresden - for a coffee klatch. Bring your favorite dishes and let yourself be spoiled by the delicacies of your fellow students. Whether it's puff pastry buns, homemade bread with hummus, classic pasta salad or your favorite spread from the supermarket around the corner - just bring whatever you like. Please also don't forget to bring your own crockery - for the sake of the environment.
If the weather is not so good, we will meet in the Andreas-Schubert-Bau (foyer on the 1st floor at the front of the building)
NeuroTanzMission
THE highlight of the week and THE party to be at! It's time to rev up the synapses and let the endorphins run free! Extremely popular with psychologists and students from all other faculties alike. The party in the winter semester is traditionally our loud, danceable "Welcome!" to the new first-year students. Use the party to get in touch with your new fellow students or spend the evening with hot beats.
Matriculation ceremony
On behalf of the University Executive Board and the Senate of the TUD Dresden University of Technology, Professor Ursula M. Staudinger, Rector of the TU Dresden, cordially invites you to the ceremonial matriculation of the students of the new academic year.
