44th SRIP Conference a great success
The 44th Annual International Conference of the Society for Reproductive and Infant Psychology (SRIP), organised by the team of Prof. Anna-Lena Zietlow and the team of Prof. Susan Garthus-Niegel, was a great success. More than 170 participants from more than 20 different countries were our guests in Dresden. The latest research findings and projects in the field of perinatal health were presented. Our team was prominently represented at the entire conference. Prof. Anna-Lena Zietlow spoke at the symposium Understanding Parental Psychopathology and Bonding in Research and Practice about the role of fathers in mitigating the effects of maternal perinatal disorders on child development’. In the symposium Transition to Parenthood, Working Conditions, and Career Adaptability, Dr. Johanna Petzoldt presented research findings on parental ambivalence during the transition to parenthood. Dr. Judith Buse and doctoral students Linda Stürmlinger, Eva Bütow, Jana Ray, Lea Krumpholtz and Ines Brenner showed their current research findings in a successful poster session. Dr Judith Buse was even awarded the poster prize at this year's conference for her poster on Depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress in bereaved women and men after peri- or postnatal child loss. Her research highlights the profound psychological distress experienced by parents following peri- or postnatal loss of a child and offers valuable insights into the impact of grief on the emotional well-being of mothers and fathers. Congratulations Judith!
Overall, the conference provided valuable impulses and intensive discussions on central questions of perinatal health and will certainly contribute to the scientific exchange in this field in the long term. Special thanks go to the organising committee (Prof. Anna-Lena Zietlow, Prof. Susann Garthus-Niegel, Dr. Johanna Petzoldt, Julia Ditzer, Eva Bütow, Isabel Jaramillo, Lara Seefeld & Dora Zrinski Petrović), as well as to our wonderful student helpers who contributed to this excellent conference.
